The Boreal Margarita

Not too long ago, I bought a bitter liqueur called L’Amermelade at the SAQ. I wasn’t quite sure where I was going with this, but I definitely wanted to try it. I stumbled upon this recipe for a Margarita with a twist.

Here is the short list of ingredients :

First of all, this tajin spice was a discovery for me. I now put it on everything including fruits! So, I got the agave syrup and the tajin spice on Amazon. I put my affiliate links up there if you also want to purchase those through Amazon.

You will need a shaker, a fine mesh cocktail strainer, a plate and some ice.

Step 1. Pour some tajin spice on a plate.

Step 2. Rim the glass by rubbing a lime on the side and rolling the glass onto the tajin spice.

Step 3. Put all of the ingredients into the shaker. Add ice. And Shake!

Step 4. Double strain into the tajin-rimmed glass that contains a bit of ice.

Step 5. Garnish.

Done!

So, the original recipe called for a lime as a a garnish. But, I had previously dehydrated cara oranges in my airfryer, so I used that instead.

It’s a really quick and easy cocktail. I find it slightly better than a regular margarita because it was a little less acidic. I didn’t get the bitterness at all. I sipped on the drink with and without the spice and it really does add something to it. The spice is slighty hot, a bit salty and also tangy.

For me, it’s a five star. So, go ahead and try it and let me know what you think.

Cheers!

P.S. I did record the process of doing the cocktail. I’ll try to edit and post that soon.
